On the road with Camcare

Chairman Juliann Byron and Senior Manager Nick Coker representing the Ashburton Community Bank¬ģ branch joined staff and volunteers at Camcare at their recent Christmas gathering. Camcare play a crucial role in our community supporting people through times of adversity including unemployment, ill health, financial stress and hardship, relationship difficulties, homelessness and security issues. We are pleased to have been able to provide funds to allow Camcare to purchase a motor vehicle for use by staff and volunteers.

Keeping Score

Ashburton Community Bank branch Manager, Kathy Koulouris and Customer Relationship Officer, Indu Angammana recently attended the Camberwell Central Bowls Club to present a cheque for $1,500. The funds from the Community Bank have enabled the purchase of four new manual scoreboards for the club.

Ashburton United Soccer Club Presentation Night

Director, Bob Stensholt represented the Ashburton Community Bank¬ģ at the Ashburton United Soccer Club’s Senior Presentation night. The presentation night also recognised the contribution of the Club President, David Teagle who has been involved with the club for 16 years as a coach, committee member and President. The Ashburton Community Bank¬ģ is a proud sponsor of the Ashburton United Soccer Club and look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership.

Supporting local Families.

The Boroondara Family Network provides support to families with newborn babies and young children. The group is coordinated by experienced volunteers who make regular home visits to families who don’t have social or family networks to support them. Volunteers provide assistance with parenting, providing advice on everyday issues and support with problems which can arise when a new baby arrives in the family. ¬†The Community Bank¬ģ is very pleased to support this vital service. Our contribution will allow the network to increase the number of clients they can service.

Club takes lead on Mental Health awareness

Hawthorn Amateur Football Club recently held its annual Mental Health Awareness breakfast, which forms part of a week-long program run at the club. A former AFL player  shared his story of overcoming a long struggle with depression, drugs and alcohol abuse. John Pesutto MP and Shadow Attorney- General attended the breakfast and praised the great work the club was doing to educate their players. Nick Coker, Senior Manager attended this event and was able to see first-hand how important our sponsorship dollars are and how they benefit the community.

Almost $20,000 has been paid to Community groups and clubs in the past 12 months¬†through the Community Bank¬†incentive program. Ashburton Branch Community Bank¬ģ Manager Kathy Koulouris recently presented Ashburton Trader Association committee members Karlene
Coker, Jane Harvie and Lisa Ohlsen with a payment of $1,000 in recognition of banking placed with Ashburton Branch.

Sharks on their way to Finals

Camberwell Sharks Junior Football Club recently held their monthly medal night. Senior Manager, Nick Coker presented to players and parents the benefit of banking with our Community Bank to  drive to raise funds for lights on the top oval. AFL star Bachar Houli from the Richmond Football Club provided players with tips and advice on improving their skills. We wish the Sharks all the best for the finals.

Samarinda Ashburton Aged Services provides residential and specialist day respite programs to the Ashburton and Boroondara community. The Ashburton Community Bank is proud to continue its support of this valued facility through the provision of funds to support their programs. Samarinda staff and Board members joined Community Bank staff for the cheque presentation.

The team from the Ashburton Community Bank¬ģ branch recently attended a charity event sponsored by Bendigo Bank showcasing Sri Lankan culture to Melbourne. The event raised funds for The Foundation of Goodness. This¬†Foundation supports the a holistic approach to bridging the gap between the urban and rural sector in Sri Lanka, empowering over 30,000 lives in 100+ villages.

Celebrating 30 years at Richmond Central

More than 200 players across three senior football teams and 15 netball teams will enjoy new club apparel to mark the 30th anniversary of the Richmond Central Amateur Football and Netball Club.
