New Defibrillator for Balwyn Primary School

Madeleine Smith and Nick Azar from the Balwyn Community Bank branch recently presented a cheque to Balwyn Primary School Principal, Trish Manicom to fund the purchase of a new defibrillator. School Nurse, Kaitlyn Dodson and students Nicolas, Isa and Tamsyn hope they never need to use the defibrillator but know that it can save a life if needed. Balwyn Primary School students are also enjoying the benefits of the School Banking Program provided by the Community Bank.

Clinical, effortless, dominant…

Just some of the words that describe Balwyn Football Club’s premiership winning performance in Saturday’s Division 1 EFL grand final. The Tigers were never challenged in the one-sided affair, running out as 111 point winners over a Norwood side that had no answers. The club has now won three of the past four grand finals – a huge feat. The Reserves also took out the major prize, winning by only 4 points.

CASH group CEO, Dick Menting, and senior manager, Nick Coker, were on hand at Bayswater oval to cheer on the Tigers. The club has a partnership with the Canterbury, Ashburton, Surrey Hills and Balwyn Community Bank® branches going back many years.

Helping kids stay active

Company director Geoff Rowles and Balwyn Community Bank® Branch staff members Jade and Ryan visited Balwyn Primary School. They presented the school with a sports pack, valued at over $3,500, so the kids have everything they need to keep active. The pack contains, balls, bats, singlets and other sports equipment with our logo and the school’s logo.

Learning 4 Life (L4L) Autism Centre helps children with Autism Spectrum Disorder to reach their potential. So our Balwyn Community Bank® Branch did a little helping of its own, sponsoring L4L’s main fundraising activity each year, the Gala Ball.

L4L uses the money it raises to run educational program, subsidise payments for families struggling financially, and maintain its building.

Our good friends over at the Evergreen Centre have been enjoying the new bus facility that our Balwyn Community Bank® Branch contributed to, allowing them safe and private transport. The Evergreen Centre organises loads of fun adventures for the active senior citizens at the centre, now with their courtesy bus and trusty driver Francis, they’ll get there in no time at all!

Every year, Fintona Girls School presents an award for the Commerce Student of the Year. And who better to sponsor such an award than our Balwyn Community Bank® Branch. Who knows, the award may inspire a future banker.

Keep Saturday 24 October free for the inaugural Balwyn Show Day, being organised by the staff and families at Balwyn Primary School. The school has revamped their carnival day, and our Balwyn Community Bank® Branch is a gold sponsor for this wonderful community event. Balwyn branch manager, Jade, and the Bendigo Bank Piggy presented a cheque for $2,500 at the school’s assembly.

While they were there, Jade and Piggy also talked to the students about saving. Our Piggy Saver and Student accounts are the perfect start to a good habit.

Baby you can drive my car

Getting your drivers licence is a rite of passage for our young people. But we want them to be safe and well-prepared when they move from their Ls to their Ps. Driver Education Australia, a non-profit organisation, runs innovative driver education programs in secondary schools. Year 10 students at Fintona Girls School participated in one of these driver education courses last year.

The Balwyn Community Bank® Branch proudly sponsored this important program. Branch manager, Jade, presented the school with a cheque for $1500, to help cover program costs.
