Building new partnerships

Our Surrey Hills Community Bank® Branch is working hard to build new partnerships with groups in our community. We’ve just started working with the navy cadets of TS Melbourne and their families. We recently helped the group with a fundraising sausage sizzle and raffle, providing the sausages and a $200 account as one of the raffle prizes.

John Bergin, one of our business development managers, was happy to turn some sausages.

A facelift for Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre

The staff and volunteers at Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre are very happy with their newly refurbished centre (thanks to the City of Boroondara). The office is now a more customer friendly space, with more room for everyone to work. The Chandler Room also got a facelift—there are new thermal windows (to keep it warm in winter and cool in summer), more storage and a new door.

The Surrey Hills Community Bank® Branch has been proudly supporting the centre for over 10 years.

A big year for Hawthorn Amateur Football Club

It’s been a big year for Hawthorn Amateur Football Club, and the season’s not over yet.

With three rounds to go, two teams are eyeing off the finals again this season (after making their respective grand finals last season). The club’s Club 18 side is in finals contention this season too.

The club also celebrated 20 years this year, with a gala ball in May. And it hosted an annual mental health breakfast with representative from Headspace and One in Five. Simon Hogan (ex Geelong AFL footballer) was the guest speaker.

The Surrey Hills Community Bank® Branch has been fostering a strong relationship with the club for many years. And we have given back almost $40,000 to a club that’s also supporting us.

The club received the other $1,000 simply because one of its members took out a home loan with us.

Surrey Park Lacrosse in the Victorian finals

Surrey Park Lacrosse hosted the Victorian lacrosse finals at Mont Albert Reserve in late August 2015.  The Surrey Park senior men’s team was in the Division 2 final against Williamstown. Unfortunately for Surrey Park, Williamstown was the better team on the day, winning 22-8.

Luckily, the rest of the day was a big success, with teams playing at Mont Albert Reserve from 9:00am until 5:00pm. And thanks to the weather, people ate plenty of hot food.

Our Surrey Hills Community Bank® Branch is proud to sponsor Surrey Park Lacrosse.

New blood helps Surrey Park Football Club

It was a tight tussle right from the start when Surrey Park Football Club clashed with Nunawading. New player, Josh Hughes, got Surrey Park’s first goal and it was a sign of things to come. But the Nunawading players refused to give in. Just one point separated the teams with 10 minutes to play.

Surrey Park scored two quick goals in the dying minutes, and withstood a determined Nunadwading offense to hold on for the win. The final score was Surrey Park 13.10.88 defeated Nunawading 11.8.74.

The Surrey Hills Community Bank® is a proud sponsor of the Surrey Park Football Club.
